Teacher's Bio
My art "career" began in elementary school where I began as a doodler, winning poster
contests and illustrating my own books, "Freddie the Frog," and "Horses," for classroom
projects. In high school, I signed up for Basic Art with Jane Wingard at Surrattsville
High School in Clinton, MD, and discovered I could paint! It was love at first stroke!
I entered a juried art show that year and came home with a second place ribbon for
my very first still life painting.
Through the past two and a half decades, I have taken drawing and painting classes
at community colleges, art schools, and private lessons, but I’m mostly self taught.
In 2008, I volunteered to teach a class for Imagination Celebration at the Fine
Arts Center, and shortly thereafter, Bemis School of Art hired me on as an art instructor,
where I have taught weekly classes, day classes, and workshops for Family Adventure
Day.
I prefer to work with children ages 6-12, but have worked with younger and older
kids with a desire and capacity to learn. I have taught in a daycare center, classrooms,
and even in my garage! I’d be more than happy to travel to your residence or hold
classes in my art studio in my home.
